About Prosopo

Prosopo is an open source project dedicated to creating a community powered bot detection network. Existing bot detection services are either privacy invasive or expensive. We aim to change that by being as transparent and privacy focused as possible.

Our approach to bot detection stems from traditional CAPTCHA systems, but with a twist. We collect as little information on the user as possible, with most detection being run in the browser. Cryptographic proofs are used to send the minimum amount of information to the server, and the server can verify the proof without needing to know anything about the user.
